New thrift store deals coming to Portland

Updated: Feb 28

Back by popular demand ― The first St. Vincent de Paul thrift store in 16 years will have its grand opening in east Portland in fall 2024.

Ranked by Forbes as one of the Top 100 charities in the nation, St. Vincent de Paul is returning to the thrift store market in Portland to create jobs, and to grow revenue for SVdP's charitable programs for food, rent, and utility aid. St. Vincent de Paul already operates successful thrift stores in many cities outside the Portland metro area.

"We've received hundreds and hundreds of calls from donors wanting to donate product to us," said Executive Director Brian Ferschweiler. "We look forward to all of the support in order to make our thrift store venture a very successful one."

Ferschweiler explained that an "angel" investor helped secure the space for the thrift store. Other generous donors are contributing funds for improvements and other start-up costs.
