Janine's Story

Her husband couldn't work because of an illness, then she lost her job. Watch the video to learn how they got help from St. Vincent de Paul, just like many before and after them.

"My electricity was about to be shut off. I went to St. Vincent de Paul to see if they could help me. (They) went to bat for me, and I was able to keep my electricity on, as well as being given an extra month to come up with the remainder of my electrical bill. I am so grateful at how much you were able to help me. Thank you everyone for all your help and kindness."

"I am a retired veteran who was late on my electricity bill payment. Anthony helped fit me in to see him in between working with other clients. Because of all his help, my electricity is still on, and I have lights and heat, and I was given a food box too. I am so appreciative of all your help and your kindness. Thank you."

“I have never been in my current unemployed situation, and needed assistance. I am so grateful for all of your help. I especially want to thank your staff. They were great. I almost had my power turned off, and you came through, and allowed me to keep my power on. It is nice to know there are good people like you out there lending a hand. I can never thank you enough!”

"My wife left me three years ago, and I fell onto hard times. I started drinking, and went into rehab. After this, I worked at the Electrician's Union, until I was laid off. Karyl at St. Vincent de Paul helped with rent and utilities. I am grateful because I can keep my apartment while continuing to look for work. Thank you for all your help during this hard time."
