Golf fundraiser closes office

Services at our main office on southeast Cornwell Street in Portland will be closed all day August 14, 2026, so staff and volunteers can help with the 32nd-Annual Jim Altenhofen Memorial Golf Classic. The tournament typically raises more than $100,000 each year to support people in need throughout northwest Oregon.

Our thrift store will remain open during this year's event. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. (donations open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.). The store is at 17108 SE Powell Blvd., Portland, in the old Bi-Mart.

What to Expect at the Tournament

This year's event features golfers of all skill levels, all competing at Glendoveer Golf Course, on the north side of Glisan Street across from 141st Avenue in northeast Portland. Check-in starts at 11 a.m., and all golfers receive a catered lunch and dinner, plus 18 holes of golf with a cart.

Funds raised each year from the tournament are just part of the money St. Vincent de Paul uses to benefit communities from the Cascades to the coast. Our funds provide a range of essential needs, from food boxes to rent payments to utility services.
