Sad news...

We are grieved to report the passing at age 90 of a former, long-time volunteer in our council's Emergency Services office.

Gerald "Jerry" Rothenfluch spent his life in service to others. Just one of his stints was nearly a dozen years with the Emergency Services office of St. Vincent de Paul of Portland. There, he helped a wide range of people in need to get caught up on rent and utility bills.

Jerry liked to work with people in person to figure out ways to solve their crises. He was a no-nonsense kind of guy, but he always had a big heart when it came to helping others, and trying to get as much money as possible to help them.

A funeral mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at Christ The King Church in Milwaukie, 11709 SE Fuller Road. A rosary service precedes the funeral at 10:30 a.m.
