St. Vincent de Paul has partnered with SNICKERS as part of the ‘Bar Hunger’ campaign during July and August to raise awareness of hunger in the community. SNICKERS will donate the equivalent of at least three million meals to Feeding America in 2009.
More importantly, SNICKERS plans to educate and inspire Americans to help through special branding and educational verbiage on its SNICKERS packaging, dedicated national advertising, www.facebook.com/snickers, as well as a series of events throughout the year.
SNICKERS began the ‘Bar Hunger’ campaign at the world famous Madison Square Garden (MSG) on Tuesday, July 14th, where actor and chairman of Feeding America’s Entertainment Council, David Arquette, took up residence in a special ‘Bar Hunger’ lounge atop the MSG marquee. For two days, Arquette hoped to raise $250,000 in donations for Feeding America through Facebook, text messaging and on-site collections.
You can follow Davids’s adventure via Facebook (www.facebook.com/snickers) and Twitter (twitter.com/snickers). Consumers can also support the cause by:
- Making the donation of their choice to Feeding America via the SNICKERS Facebook page, www.facebook.com/snickers. SNICKERS will match every donation — up to a total of $25,000 — beginning July 14;
- Making a $5.00 donation to Feeding America by texting the word “BAR” to 90999** from July 14 through December 31, 2009
