When you join forces with over 1,500 St. Vincent de Paul volunteers you are no longer just a drop in the ocean, but a powerful force. The goal of our staff is to leave our clients better off than when they came.

The Portland Council provides client assistance directly through the emergency service office. Volunteers join together daily to assist clients on the phones, assist walk-in clients, and prepare food boxes.

Volunteers can work 9-12 a.m. or 1-4 p.m. , Monday thru Friday.Volunteers who speak a second language are always in great need. Even if you have never volunteered before, we provide a welcoming environment and encourage a self-paced training program. We also have off-site opportunities for people wishing to volunteer but may have work, family or timing barriers.  Assisting the poor first hand is one of the most rewarding missions anyone can undertake.
